What to do when you have a spill on your carpet

We get frequent calls from clients that have had something spilled, dropped or another accident on their carpet.
If attended to straight away scooping up any solids from your carpet, then absorbing as much liquid as possible with paper toweling or a clean white towel (must be white to prevent any possible colour transfer to your carpet) and followed up with dabbing a cold damp towel (once again, must be white) can be quite effective on many spills on the…

Fire Results in Loss of an Icon

On Christmas Eve a shocking event in Latrobe, Tasmania made national news with the loss of a landmark, Reliquaire, due to fire.

It’s very unfortunate an iconic shop, which has become an institution on the North West, has experienced such a devastating fire that has also affected surrounding buildings and businesses.

A fire can be a devastating event for anyone to go through, especially at a time of year when people are celebrating and spending time with their loved…

Supercalifragilisticexpi-stachybotrys: Mould

There are many types of moulds in our environment stachybotrys being one of them, or more specifically what I’ll briefly be referring to here ‘stachybotrys chartarum’. Now, despite the parody of a well-known Disney song for the title of this blog stachybotrys won’t have us singing “Supercalifragilisticexpi-stachybotrys” and dancing for joy like Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke after coming into some winnings from a horse race whilst, apparently, lost for words, it’ll have the complete opposite affect actually….

Letters Of Gratitude

When we complete a job we have clients thanking us for the work we’ve done and in the case of a flood or fire affected home will be told tongue-in-cheek that they hope they never see us again because more often than not we have been contacted to attend a site as something has gone horribly wrong.

A few days later we may receive an email with a thankyou from a client and sometimes that thankyou will be…

Red, red wine

Red, red wine, you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollars when you’re just in my hand
But once you’re on the floor
I couldn’t hate you more

With the Christmas and New Year period upon us it is a time of celebration and with those celebrations can come the serving of alcohol and there’s one particular drink that can leave an everlasting imprint on our living space: red wine.

Accidents involving the spilling of drinks do happen quite often around…

Smells Like Pee’n’ Spirit: Urine Odours

Two little rascals guarding the door with a confidence, possibly misguided, they’re as imposing as Cerberus guarding the entrance to the underworld. Regardless of whether that confidence is warranted or not it is a belief that can soon be thwarted at the sight of a small cardboard box, the sound of crinkling plastic and the knowledge savoury treats are soon to follow.

People adore their pets but that adoration can be tested at times when they’re…
